Professor Ye QI
Director, Institute for Public Policy
Welcome to the Institute for Public Policy (IPP)
We live in a historical moment of grand transitions. Climate change, environmental degradation, urban sprawling, economic deceleration, social security, and cyber risks are just a few daily reminders of perennial challenges we face today. On the other hand, technological innovation, new business models, imaginative designs, and heroic reforms are blowing our minds and refreshing our imagination every day. The grand transitions call for rapid improvement of governance, and for innovative policies that facilitate the change the world needs. Our Institute is set up to meet the policy and governance challenges and to embrace the abundant opportunities of our time, with policy-oriented and evidence-based research, as well as rigorous and interdisciplinary education. We bring together policy-makers, stakeholders and scholars across disciplines of science, business, engineering, and social science. We facilitate policy dialogues on key issues confronting the region, the country and the world. And we prepare the current and future leaders for the ever-changing world.
Our key strengths are Science, technology and innovation, and Environment and sustainability. We also address social, economic, geopolitical issues, such as policy implications of artificial intelligence and big data. The Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative provide exciting opportunities and new grounds to test our theories and methods.
Born in excellence of the world’s best young university, grounded in science and technology, nourished by a culture of innovation, and driven by passion for a prosperous and sustainable community of human beings, IPP aims high.
Welcome aboard. I look forward to sharing the excitement with you.
